Since moving to Kākā Point we got to know a small group of locals through a "work from home" coffee group. Some of these people are active in various community fundraising circles.
The Kākā Point house & garden tour opens up select homes in the area for one day, sells tickets to local nosy groups, and makes some money to help the local school.
We were quite keen to get involved, for a few reasons:
- To show off our new house (and garden!)
- To get to know some more locals
- To peek at some of the houses, including some built by our builder
On the Saturday, we got to tour around all the houses, with all the other homeowners, and then wrap with drinks & nibbles (at one of the homes). On Sunday, we manned our house from 10-4, with help from neighbour volunteer Louise.
It was exhausting, but we got a free lunch of mixed salads & pulled-beef wrap!
